I collaborate with UK-based contemporary chamber instrumentalists GBSR Duo, George Barton (percussion) and Siwan Rhys (piano) on filming and editing videos of their studio performances.
When filming, I aim to convey the nature of the performed piece though focusing on the interaction between George and Siwan while they perform, the minute gestures, gentle nods, intense beats – the body language thus becoming an equal partner in the music piece.
During the editing process, I often crop, overlap, mirror and multiply video frames to emphasise key motifs of GBSR rendition and break up the traditional linear documentary narrative.
